Mission & History

Mission

To promote economic and community development in economically depressed areas of the city through the institution of programs designed to alleviate conditions of unemployment, blight and increase population density through housing efforts.

History

Originally started in 1989 as the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Educational Development Foundation, our goal was to relieve conditions of poverty, dependency, chronic unemployment, underemployment, and tension in economically depressed areas of Midland, Midland County, Texas. Through working to address these needs, our work evolved to focus on helping residents obtain affordable housing and achieve homeownership. Working with community partners, we develop affordable housing options, connect clients to financial assistance programs, and offer guidance and information on the home buying process.
